Freddy Garcia to sign with a team in Asia?

Veteran free agent starting pitcher Freddy Garcia is still looking to land a deal with any professional baseball team that will take him. He was released by the Atlanta Braves on March 24, only two months after he returned to the club on a Minor League deal.

He’s drawn some interest from a couple teams but sounds like he would only land himself another Minor League deal. According to Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish, Garcia is closing in on a deal with a professional team in Asia. The team that Garcia could be landing with soon, is the same one that Manny Ramirez played with last year.

Garcia, 37 years old split the 2013 season with both the Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves. He was originally signed by the San Diego Padres but was released before last years Opening Day. Baltimore ended up designating him for assignment which led to him being acquired by Atlanta for cash considerations.

Freddy went 1-2 with a 1.65 ERA in Septemeber, which was good enough to help him land a spot on the playoff roster. Now he’ll be looking to turn heads, but this time from another country.
