Google Remote Desktop available on Android

Google has announced that Android users can now access their PC desktop directly via a smartphone or tablet. The Chrome Remote Desktop app, which launched this week, lets you access files on your PC or Mac without being anywhere close to it.

To take advantage of the feature, users have to download the app from Google Play Market as well as the Chrome Remote Desktop extension via the Chrome browser store. After installing both programs, you will have to grant the program access as well as set up a PIN code for the PC. After setting up the PIN, the PC will appear in the Remote Desktop page for you to connect with by way of the created PIN code.

After that, you are good to go. Your home PC must be on in order for this feature to work. So, for people like myself who turn off their PCs when not in use as a way to save on the electric bill, you will have to suck it up and leave the computer on to access your files.
