It’s a move that may surprise some but one that many others saw coming, but the Indiana Pacers have ruled Andrew Bynum out for the first round of the postseason. It’s not clear whether this is a tentative thing and Bynum is just going to sit unless it becomes clear the Pacers are in dire need of his help or if he’s done like Stephen Strausburg was for the Nationals and there’s no wiggle room.

If anything, the move isn’t a surprise if you paid attention to the Pacers sole motive for signing Bynum. While they vehemently denied it, the Pacers seemingly added Bynum to keep him away from the Miami Heat and to use him against them.
With his being ruled out for the first round against the Atlanta Hawks, this only further solidifies that notion in the minds of fans and analysts as not playing Bynum in the first round seems to suggest they indeed have calculated plans for him.
