Saturday afternoon head coach Gus Malzahn and his Auburn Tigers squad will take the field inside Jordan-Hare Stadium for their annual spring scrimmage as they get set to build off what they accomplished in 2013.
After a 3-9 campaign in 2012 under Gene Chizik, Malzahn stepped in and made an immediate impact. Actually, he made one of the biggest, one-year impacts that this game has ever seen as he led the Tigers to the SEC Championship and an appearance in the BCS National Championship Game, a game which they were seconds away from winning and completing the ultimate turnaround.
Still, nothing is to be taken away from this team and what they did in 2013, but with that, they’ve put tons of pressure on their shoulders for 2014 to not only replicate it, but potentially exceed it .
While they are returning their starting quarterback in Nick Marshall, plus some experienced defensive players, there are still a lot of questions to be answered about this time with some holes that are left before we start talking about an SEC repeat, and we’ll get a good look at those on Saturday.
Here are a few things to watch for as Auburn finishes up spring sessions on Saturday.
