On Saturday, 3-star athlete/wide receiver/dual threat quarterback Tony Nicholson became the fifth player to give his pledge to the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Nicholson joins 3-star athlete Morie Evans, 3-star dual threat quarterback Bryce Perkins, 3-star running back Nick Ralston and 3-star junior college tight end Raymond Epps.
Although the 5’10, 171-pound Nicholson is a quarterback, he projects as a wide receiver with the Sun Devils. Nicholson is from Grand Prairie, Texas and attends South Grand Prairie High School.
Just a few months ago, Nicholson told reporters the in-state Baylor Bears were his leader and later named the Duke Blue Devils as a leader as well.
However, after an unofficial visit to Arizona State Friday, he changed his mind.
Nicholson is ranked as the 61st-best athlete prospect, the 125th-best overall prospect in the state of Texas and the 977th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Nicholson chose the Sun Devils over offers from the Bears and Blue Devils as well as the Indiana Hoosiers, North Carolina Tar Heels and Ole Miss Rebels, among others.
