The Auburn Tigers were arguably the story of the year in the 2013 college football season.
They rebounded from a winless season in the SEC in 2012 to an SEC title and appearance in the BCS National Title Game in 2013.
The Tigers expect that success to quickly pay dividends on the recruiting trail.
It certainly did on Saturday when the Tigers got a commitment from 3-star offensive tackle Bailey Sharp.
“I committed in Gus Malzahn’s office with all 27 of my family members,” Sharp told Keith Niebuhr of 24/7 Sports. “I told Coach Malzahn when I commit, I wanted to commit my family to the Auburn family.
“Everyone was super happy and excited about it. It made me feel very happy. This is the kind of people I’m surrounding myself with, that keep family No. 1.”
The 6’5, 280-pound Sharp is from Marietta, Georgia and attends Sprayberry High School.
He is ranked as the 42nd-best offensive tackle prospect, the 35th-best overall prospect in the state of Georgia and the 349th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Sharp chose the Tigers over offers from the Clemson Tigers, Duke Blue Devils and Florida Gators, among others.
