The Michigan State Spartans believe they may have found their quarterback of the future when 3-star signal caller Brian Lewerke gave his pledge to the Spartans on Saturday.
The 6’3, 180-pounder is from Phoenix, Arizona and attends Pinnacle High School, but has made several cross-country trips to visits schools and was very interested in playing college football in the state of Michigan. Back on April 4, he took a visit to East Lansing to check out the Spartans, then hit Ann Arbor to check out the Michigan Wolverines’ campus a day later.
The Spartans’ campus obviously stood out to him.
“It was great,” Lewerke told Matt Dorsey of The Lansing State Journal. “I had a great time with the coaches. I got to see their campus and get the experience. The coaches said they like me a lot. I think their kindness and easiness to talk to stood out to me the most. Also their stadium was very impressive too.”
Lewerke is ranked as the 19th-best dual threat quarterback, the eighth-best overall prospect in the state of Arizona and the 437th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
He chose the Spartans over offers from the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Duke Blue Devils and Florida Gators, among many others.
