It has been a huge day for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
First, they had 73,506 fans show up to their annual spring game.
Then, they got a pair of huge commitments in 4-star safety/wide receiver/athlete Shawn Burgess-Becker, who announced his decision via twitter and 5-star cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, who informed the coaches of his decision after the game.
The 6’0, 185-pound Fitzpatrick attends St. Peter’s Preparatory in Jersey City, New Jersey.
He is one of the most highly sought after recruits in the country and has visited several of the top schools, including the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles, Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes.
Fitzpatrick is ranked as the fourth-best cornerback prospect in the country, the top overall prospect in the state of New Jersey and the 30th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Fitzpatrick chose the Tide over offers from the Seminoles, Gators and Hurricanes as well as the rival Auburn Tigers, Louisville Cardinals and Tennessee Volunteers, among many others.
The Tide now have 12 commitments in the class of 2015 and once again have the top recruiting class, passing the Penn State Nittany Lions.
