The Toronto Blue Jays will have a key piece back in the lineup Saturday when they take the field against the Cleveland Indians.
Following the plan that has been in place for a while now, the Blue Jays will activate shortstop Jose Reyes from the disabled list before the game and insert him into the starting lineup. Per Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com:
Jose Reyes will make his return to the lineup when the Blue Jays visit the Indians on Saturday afternoon…Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said the plan is for Reyes to start at shortstop on Saturday and Sunday before getting another short rest on Monday with the upcoming team off-day.”
Reyes initially injured the hamstring that has kept him out during spring training. The team was hoping initially that it would not force him to miss any time during the regular season, but then Reyes re-injured it during the very first inning of the season and was placed on the DL.
The Blue Jays are off to a solid 9-8 start this season. They will hope that the return of their star shortstop will give them a boost as they try to hang around with the rest of the AL East in the early parts of the season.
