Nationals' Bryce Harper pulled from game for 'lack of hustle'

Bryce Harper and the Washington Nationals kicked off the third game of a four game series against the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals today in Washington.

But young phenom Harper was removed from the game after six innings because of what Nationals manager Matt Williams called ‘lack of hustle’ according to Adam Kilgore on Twitter.

The 21 year old outfielder has been dealing with a quad injury for awhile now, so I’m guessing that’s the reason why he was taking it easy on ground-outs. We understand that managers always want their players to run as hard as they can just in case an error were to occur.

Either way, Harper isn’t upset with Williams and completely understands why he was pulled. I wouldn’t be surprised if they give Bryce a day off tomorrow during the four game series finale against the Cardinals.

Just give him a day to relax.
