Assuming Carmelo Anthony exercises his player option and opts out of his contract with the New York Knicks this offseason, the small forward is sure to have his choice of suitors.
One team mentioned to potentially be in the Anthony sweepstakes are that of the Cleveland Cavaliers, though most of their ‘interest’ is likely because they need a star talent and have an ample amount of cap space to afford Anthony.
However, according to Cleveland.com, Anthony with 100 percent certainty will not be joining the Cavaliers this offseason.
Gilbert likes to be active in free agency, and the team has been pointing toward this summer when everybody from James to Carmelo Anthony can be free agents, though none have formally announced their intentions. We’re going to have to hold off on this for now, but I will predict with 100 percent certainty that Anthony will not be joining the Cavs.
While adding Melo would be a wonderful coup by the Cavaliers, multiple changes would need to take place on the Cavaliers roster given the amount of ball mashers already assembled.
Regardless, it doesn’t look like there’s much chance of such happening anyway.
