The New England Patriots have one of the most reliable and arguably the best quarterback in Tom Brady and behind him on the depth chart the Patriots have Ryan Mallett. Despite seemingly being set at the position they could look at adding a third quarterback in the draft or free agency, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss who was answering a fan’s question.

“I think they’ll come out of the draft, or free agency, with at least one more quarterback,” Reiss writes on ESPN Boston. “They can’t go into training camp with just two like they have right now. The question is ‘how early do you take that plunge?’ I’d think third round at the earliest, with the caveat that the late second-round pick (62nd) is almost like a third-rounder.”

Reiss goes on to label it as the seventh need on the Patriots list, but doesn’t necessarily mean those needs will be addressed in that order. You’d think the Patriots might be more inclined to get a disposable veteran to fill the third quarterback at training camp need rather than waste a third round pick.
