On Saturday night at the DC Armory in the nation’s capital, Bernard Hopkins continued to defy all odds by defeating Beibut Shumenov to unify light heavyweight world titles. Hopkins, who is 49 years old, dominated the fight after a slow start on was to a decision victory.
Surprisingly, despite Hopkins scoring the only knockdown of the fight and dictating the pace of the bout, Hopkins was only able to win by split-decision thanks to a crooked scorecard from judge Gustavo Padilla.
The good news for everyone is that Hopkins was still named the winner thanks to the two level-headed judges, and he got to celebrate his win with a ring full of his supporters.
