Monday gets the fantasy baseball week off to a good start with a total of 13 games on the schedule with just four teams taking the day off. Make sure you are aware of the Patriots’ Day game in Boston which starts at 11:05 AM. If your league locks rosters for the day or for the week when the first game starts, make sure to make your moves early.
If it’s starting pitching you’re after, there are definitely options worth considering who are widely available heading into a two-start week. Throughout the week, you can get help with your starting pitching pickups whether for one-start fill-ins or longer term options. You can also see how my past picks have fared on the final slide of the post. All of my selections are available in at least half of ESPN leagues and their ownership percentage is included in parentheses. Here are the pitchers I think you should take a look at on most leagues waiver wire heading into Monday’s action:
Wily Peralta-Milwaukee Brewers (5.8%)
Peralta has been solid this season as part of the Brewers early start to the season. In his three starts, he has made it through the fifth each time never allowing more than two earned runs. Peralta has struck out 13 in his 18.1 innings but has only walked five in his three outings.
Monday, he starts against the Padres at home in Milwaukee. San Diego is the lowest scoring team in the Majors, so Peralta should have a good chance to have a solid start against the Friars.
