NFL Rumors: Detroit Lions want to add a ‘closer’ in free agency, draft
By Bryan Rose
The Detroit Lions didn’t have trouble putting themselves in position to win games during the 2013 season, they just struggled to actually capitalize on such which lead to their less than impressive 7-9 record.
Building leads wasn’t the problem in Motown, it was keeping them and because of that the Lions are said to be looking to add what they’re calling ‘closers’ in the draft and free agency.
"“You saw six games out of seven where we did not finish. So we’re going to be looking for closers,” White said. “Look for them in free agency — guys who have been there, guys like our coaching staff that have been there, guys that will not quit. We have some now, but we need some additional players that have that same kind of mind-set. That’s what we’ve done so far, and we still have a lot of work to do.”"
With the addition of Golden Tate, the Lions have hopefully added at least one such ‘closer’ though it doesn’t appear as if the team is completely comfortable at this point and seems interested in adding more.
Who exactly those names are, remain to be seen.
