Late Saturday evening it was reported that the search for the Tennessee Volunteers in finding their next men’s basketball coach had turned to the young Michael White of Louisiana Tech. Now, a Nashville radio station is reporting that White will be the new man in Knoxville, barring anything drastic taking place.

Tennessee is in the position of having to find a new head coach after Cuonzo Martin unexpectedly left to go out west last week and become the new head coach of the Cal Golden Bears. Right after that, the reports began to come in that the Vols were looking for a big name to come in and take over the program, however that’s not always the right choice.

White, though, could indeed be the right man as he led the Bulldogs to a share of the Conference USA title this past season in their first year as a member of the conference. He signed an extension earlier this year with the school, however that might be just a distant memory soon as he gets set to get paid to head up a rising program in the SEC.
