Texas Longhorns LB Steve Edmond calls Big 12 Champion Baylor Bears 'trash'

The Texas Longhorns are getting set to tackle the 2014 season wit a new head coach at the helm in Charlie Strong, and they’re looking to build off what was an amazing run down the stretch of the 2013 season after getting off to a sluggish start.

Unfortunately, that late run last season was halted by the Baylor Bears in the final game of the regular season, who manhandled the Longhorns and walked away with the Big 12 title and the BCS bid to the Fiesta Bowl to go along with it.

After the Texas spring game on Saturday, Longhorns linebacker Steve Edmond shared his thoughts on the Bears, and despite the fact that his team was handled rather easily by Baylor in that de facto conference championship game, he just thinks their program is downright trash.

“We could have won the conference. Even though I didn’t get a chance to play in the Baylor game, I really feel like we should have beat Baylor,” Edmond said after Texas’ spring scrimmage. “I really don’t like Baylor. I still think they’re trash.”

You have to like the rivalry brewing between these two in the conference, although calling a team “trash” that beat you by 20 points might not have been the best way to go about explaining your distaste for your foe.
