The Miami Marlins (8-10) are waiting for both infielder Rafael Furcal and pitcher Jacob Turner to make their return to the Major League roster.
Furcal hasn’t played a single game to start off the 2014 regular season. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury back on March 27 and was thought to be back by now. The veteran infielder was eligible to return by April 6, but he’s just not 100 percent just yet.
Miami set up some Minor League rehab assignments for him starting at High-A Jupiter and now isn’t supposed to be activated until May 6.
Now according to the Miami Herald, Rafael Furcal will be continuing his rehab assignments but this time with Double-A Jacksonville starting Monday.
Left-hander Jacob Turner is scheduled to throw at least one more bullpen session sometime today before he moves onto Miami’s Single-A Hammerheads affiliate. He’ll make his first rehab start on Wednesday and could be limited anywhere between 50-60 pitches in that outing.
If everything goes well for Turner, he could be activated along with Furcal at the beginning of May.
