The Chicago Blackhawks needed to get off to a hot start against the St. Louis after blowing two late leads in the first two games of the series against the St. Louis Blues, and they got it in the form of a Jonathan Toews goal at the 4:10 mark.

Toews wasn’t the only star in the first period as goalie Corey Crawford continued his excellent play in the series with a couple of big saves.

As great as that save was by Crawford, who has been the Hawks MVP so far in the series, despite losing two late leads and allowing two goals in overtime, this save was even better as he did the splits to stop the shot from the Blue.

The Blackhawks have a 1-0 lead on the Blues in Game 3 in front of a raucous United Center crowd as the defending Stanley Cup champions look to cut the series lead in half.
