The 2014 Boston Marathon is underway and we the winner of the women’s race has been crowned. After completing the grueling 26 mile race, Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo crossed the finish line to finish in first place.
Jeptoo in an incredible time of 2:18:57, which set a new course record by just over a minute. The previous course record was 2:20:43. Buzunesh Deba finished in second place in 2:19:59, which set a new personal course record. American Shalane Flanagen finished in sixth.
Earlier in the day, Ernst van Dyke won the men’s wheelchair division and Tatyana McFadden won the women’s wheelchair division.
