Chicago Bulls’ center Joakim Noah wins Defensive Player of the Year


Joakim Noah had the best season of his blossoming career for the Chicago Bulls and today it was revealed that the All-Star center has won the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

The seven-year veteran averaged a career-high 11.3 rebounds per game with 7.7 coming as defensive rebounds per game. Noah also averaged 1.5 blocks per game and tied his career-high with 1.2 steals per game.

For the advanced metrics, Noah shined even brighter as he led the league with a 95.8 defensive rating and with a 6.6 mark in defensive win shares.

Noah was on the first-team All-NBA team a year ago and was a second-team selection two seasons ago.

    the voters got this award right, Allen and Lebron for his versatility would be my top three. Too bad they will mess up the most important Award, the MVP.. giving it to a volume shooter, a guy who leads the NBA in shot and free throw attempts…. over 22 shots and 10 freebies a game… A player with Zero defensive responsible and for a 6’11 guy with a 7 foot wingspan is not on the glass enough, Durant is a volume player like Kobe, Melo, Aldridge nothing more… top 3 MVP James, Noah, Dragic… if Noah was better offensively, he may have won the MVP.
