The Los Angeles Dodgers (12-7) are currently at the top of the National League West standings. Tonight they’ll take on the 8-10 Philadelphia Phillies as they continue their 10 game home stand.
Now before they take the field, the Dodgers made a couple roster moves that features veteran utility man Chone Figgins. Figgins was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque today because they couldn’t find any playing time for the 36 year old. Los Angeles is deep at almost every position that Figgins can play, with players who have become everyday starters.
Figgins has only picked up six at-bats with the Dodgers so far this season. He’s recorded one hit, walked three times and struck out twice with a batting line of .167/.444/.611.
With Figgins heading down to the Minor Leagues, the Dodgers will call up right-handed pitcher Jose Dominguez which would make him the 13th pitcher on the 25 man roster. Dominguez allowed four runs in just three innings of work earlier in the year during his brief stint with the big league club.
