The Chicago Blackhawks are down two games to the St. Louis Blues and will have to turn things around without one of their best defensemen, Brent Seabrook, after the defender was handed a three-game suspension from the league for his hit on David Backes.

It is a difficult situation for the defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks, who will now need to haul off two straight wins in order to avoid going in a three-game hole and finding themselves on the brink of elimination.

For the Blues, the status of Backes remains uncertain, and it doesn’t look like any decision will be made until crunch time on Monday night.

“All I know is he’s upright, and that’s about it right now,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock, via ESPN.com. “We don’t have any further information and probably won’t have until late tomorrow.”
