The Rutgers Scarlet Knights made a big addition to their 2015 recruiting class when they received a commitment from 3-star defensive end Ron’Dell Carter on Monday.
The 6’3, 227-pound Carter is from Columbia, Maryland and attends Long Reach High School.
“It feels great because now I get the benefit of being a part of this family,” said Carter via Todderick Hunt of NJ.com. “That’s one thing Rutgers always stressed, the family thing. And I’m pumped up and excited, and I just know that this is the best fit for me. And I know that I am welcomed there and I will be respected. I know that I will be taken good care of because of the whole family thing.
“Forget about me, I love you (F.A.M.I.L.Y.). That’s the one thing I remember from when I was at Rutgers. They always stress family. Also, the fact that I know I’ll get a good education there. Academically, I’ll be set. Financially, after I graduate, I know I’ll be set for me and my family and I also know I’ll be able to compete for Big Ten championships and that’s what we are all about.”
Carter, who has not been ranked by 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings, chose Rutgers over offers from the Boston College Eagles and the Old Dominion Big Blue, among others.
Carter becomes Rutgers’ fifth commitment for the class of 2015.
