Gus Malzahn and the Auburn Tigers got another athlete to plug into the offense with the commitment from four-star recruit D’Anfernee McGriff (Talahassee, Fla. Leon) to move the Auburn class up to No. 5 in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
McGriff was on the Plains last weekend for a three-day visit and that was enough to put Auburn in the driver’s seat over his hometown Florida State Seminoles who hosted McGriff earlier this month.
The 6-1, 230-pound recruit doesn’t have a true position and Keith Neibuhr from Auburn Undercover writes that Auburn recruited him as an athlete with the hopes of using him as a running back, wide receiver, H-back and wildcat quarterback.
McGriff is ranked as the No. 187 recruit, No. 13 running back and the No. 26 player in the state of Florida according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The Tigers have been on a run in the recent week on the recruiting trail having collected five verbal commitments, including No. 2 athlete Kerryon Johnson last Tuesday to move up from No. 18 to the No. 5 recruiting class.
