There were reports that Manchester United was set to sack manager David Moyes, though they denied the reports on Monday. On Tuesday just one day later, United announced in a statement via their website the departure of Moyes.
“Manchester United has announced that David Moyes has left the Club,” the statement read.
“The Club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.”
Taking his place as interim manager is current player, Ryan Giggs. He is 40 years old and is likely in the last year of his career if he wanted to pursue the managing job for the next campaign.
“Following the departure of David Moyes as manager, Manchester United has announced that Ryan Giggs, the club’s most decorated player, will assume responsibility for the first team until a permanent appointment can be made,” the club said in a statement.
“The club will make no further comment on this process until it is concluded.”
