It’s nice for a ball player to get one statue at a Major League Ballpark. To get two must be a tremendous honor.
Bob Uecker, long time play by play man for the Milwaukee Brewers will receive such an honor as his second statue is set for it’s revealing. Tom Haudricort of the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal-Sentinel announced that the statue would be revealed on Friday before the Brewers’ game with the Chicago Cubs.
Uecker’s first statute resides outside of Miller Park along with Robin Yount, Hank Aaron, and Bud Selig, but this second one will be inside the park at the top of section 422. The statue commemorates Uecker’s appearance in the 1970′s Miller Lite advertising campaign, where he discusses the perks of being a former big league ball player.
Section 422 will now be renamed the Uecker seats and the statue features a seated Uecker with an empty seat, perfect for photographic moments.
Uecker’s “Front Row” ad from 1970 is below.
