NHL Playoffs 2014: Anaheim to sit Teemu Selanne

There’s drama unfolding in Duck world.

Fresh off a 3-0 shutout loss to the Dallas Stars in game three of their first-round series, Anaheim Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau has decided that it’s time to make some major lineup changes. Out of the lineup comes 43-year old forward Teemu Selanne while the recently recalled Emerson Etem will make his playoff debut.

“I’m disappointed,” Selanne said via the Calgary Sun. “I want to play, but I can’t really control it right now.”

With no points in his last two games, and just one for the series, Selanne will sit as a postseason healthy scratch for the first time since 2004 when he was with the Colorado Avalanche. Selanne played just two shifts in the third period of Monday’s game in Dallas.

Game three between the Stars and Ducks gets underway at 8pm tonight on CNBC in the United States.
