Mark Trumbo has stress fracture in left foot

As if the news could get any worse for the lowly 6-18 Arizona Diamondbacks, an MRI this week revealed that slugger Mark Trumbo has a stress fracture in his left foot.

According to Nick Piecoro of azcentral.com:

As Piecoro also notes, this is not the first stress fracture of Trumbo’s career, as he previously dealt with the same injury in his right foot.

The 28-year-old first baseman turned outfielder in Arizona has put up nice power numbers so far this season. He leads the National League with seven home runs. As per his usual statistical line, though, he has only a .210 batting average. If the second opinion does confirm a stress fracture, the Diamondbacks will hope against hope that the slow healing process does not keep him out of the lineup for too long.
