NFL Draft rumors: Cardinals don’t expect Tyrann Mathieu to be ready for camp
By Josh Sanchez
Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu watched his season come to an early end on Dec. 8 against the St. Louis Rams when he tore his ACL and LCL. It was a disappointing end to his rookie campaign, but Mathieu has been confident that he will be back on the field to start the season.
Unfortunately for Mathieu, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians does not believe that Mathieu will be ready for the start of training camp. That would make the player formerly known as “The Honey Badger” a candidate to start the year on the physically-unable to perform list.
“I think Ty is going to up to the wire,” Arians said, via Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. “I still anticipate him on PUP, but he refuses to believe it. That’s a good thing.”
Mathieu believes he will be ready to go, but only his knee will be able to determine whether or not that is a possibility.
We will not know an official answer until later this season.
