The Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets are currently tied in their Eastern Conference playoff series 2-2 after some disappointing performances from the Penguins, who were favored, and the team’s head coach has not bee pleased with his team.
When Bylsma was speaking to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review to assess his team’s performance, the coach ripped his team’s effort on hustle plays and contributed that for being a reason the Penguins are struggling to put away a team everyone thought they’d be able to roll by.
“The work and compete and the battle level has probably been the most troubling thing. It has to be raised,” Bylsma told the paper. “It’s our puck battles. It’s our willingness to play in those areas and make it a tough game. Our whole team needs to be better in that regard.”
The series shifts back to Pittsburgh on Saturday night where the team will have an opportunity to regain their edge in the series, but if they don’t put forth the effort that Byslma has seen lacking then they could be in some serious trouble.
