NHL Playoffs 2014: Red Wings start Jonas Gustavsson over Jimmy Howard in Game 4

The Detroit Red Wings made a surprising announcement just before the start of Game 4 on Thursday night. The team has announced that the team will roll with goalie Jonas Gustavsson in net over Jimmy Howard for tonight’s match up against the Boston Bruins.

In addition to Gustavsson being named the starting netminder, the team will insert Henrik Zetterberg into the line up.

During the regular season, Gustavsson was able to total a 16-5-4 record.

It will be interesting to see how the change in goal will play out for the Red Wings as the team looks to draw even in the series at two wins a piece. Tonight’s game is the second straight at Joe Louis Arena, before the action shifts back to Boston this weekend.
