Anthony “Rumble” Johnson returns to the UFC after being released two years ago, and he has been able to haul off a six-fight winning streak in promotions like Titan FC and World Series of Fighting. However, despite his recent success, Johnson is just one misstep away from a UFC ban.
Johnson, who continuously missed weight during his time in the UFC, has since fought in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions.
His home seems to be at 205-pounds, where he will be making his return to the octagon at UFC 172 this weekend against Phil Davis, but if he is unable to come in under the weight limit he will be handed his walking papers according to UFC president Dana White.
White discussed Johnson during a UFC media event at Camden Yards on Thursday, when he mentioned another failed weigh-in would lead to his release. White added that Johnson would never be welcomed back, via FOX Sports’ Marc Raimondi.
The stakes were already high for Johnson in his fight against Davis, but now things have been taken up a notch and plenty of pressure will be on him Friday afternoon to make sure the scale reads 206-pounds or lighter.
