These days in the media-splashed world of college football recruiting,  it’s not enough for a recruit to just to send in a National Letter of Intent to the school of his choice, there has to be an angle attached.

TV, the internet and swarming media coverage has top prospects trying to come up with new and creative ways to announce their commitment, and Jordan Colbert, a 4-star prospect at safety out of Griffin, Ga (Griffin HS), has one that involves a little more personal touch.

Per a story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Colbert — a lifelong Georgia Bulldogs fan — plans to run in his school’s track meet on Saturday morning, and then will drive to the campus of the school he is choosing to make his commitment in person.

According to the AJC, Colbert’s final choices are Clemson, the Bulldogs, Auburn and Florida State.

The commitment isn’t going to be a surprise to anyone except fans, as according to Colbert, the school he has chosen is already aware.

According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Colbert is the no. 12 OLB/S in the nation, and the no. 18 prospect in the state of Georgia.

“It will probably be around 7 p.m. on Saturday, but it could be earlier,” Colbert said. “I’m going to commit to the head coach in person. We’ve already got it set up.”

Of all the schools on his list, Florida State lies the furthest away from his home in Griffin, Ga. (about 4+ hours), so the 7pm window is no indication of which school he plans to make the trek to see.

“I’m just at a point right now where I’ve already got my mind up,” Colbert said. “I’ve already got a clear view of how I want to perceive my life in college. I already know which college is going to best fit me.”

I guess everyone else will on Saturday night.
