The Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards are engaged in a physical and bruising playoff series, and in tonight’s game three, things didn’t get any softer.
With the Bulls down 2-0 in the series to the Wizards, and fighting for their playoff lives, they came into the Verizon Center ready to go down swinging.
The Wizards — specifically Nene — were happy to oblige.
After Nene cut through the lane for a layup, he had a little exchange with Bulls forward Jimmy Butler, starting with a small shove, and then escalating into the two butting heads like a pair of mountain rams about to go at it.
For his trouble, Nene was given an ejection, removing the Wizards enforcer for the remainder of the fourth quarter in a very close game.
Props to Butler for not backing down from the much larger Wizards center, although that might not have been the most prudent course.
