As the NFL draft gets closer to reality, more and more chatter is appearing about teams interested in either moving up or down in the draft. One team that is interested in doing the former is the Buffalo Bills.

While speaking with WGR550-AM Buffalo on Friday morning, Bills general manager Doug Whaley stated that he’s more than interested in picking higher than ninth come May 8.

“There are players on the board we won’t trade away from and players we would trade up to get,” Whaley said. “If we think a guy would help us make the playoffs, why wouldn’t we make the deal?”

Whaley then went on to speak about South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney as a potential target to trade up for. Whaley mentioned imagining a defensive line of the likes of Clowney, Mario Williams, Kyle Williams and Marcel Dareus. A defensive front of those for would give the Bills one of the best lines in all of football consisting of three Pro-Bowlers, and a projected future Pro-Bowler.

It may be an unlikely move for the Bills to make, moving up to likely the top spot in the draft, but it sure is something to think about as the NFL Draft gets closer by the minute.
