Nike just released an epic four minute commercial ahead of the World Cup. The premise is a bunch of kids playing some pick up soccer under the “winner stays on” rules, and picking their favorite soccer players to pretend to be. They morph into the players on a lot into a stadium and the ad is filled with soccer super stars
The list of soccer stars in this ad include: Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Gerard Piqué, Gonzalo Higuaín, Mario Götze, Eden Hazard, Thiago Silva, Andrea Pirlo, David Luiz, Andrés Iniesta, Thibaut Courtois, and Tim Howard.
Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant even makes a cameo in the ad.
The theme of the campaign is “risk everything.”
There are two quality parts of this commercial. When Ronaldo is trash talking a kid on the pitch, the kid responds with I have 50,000 fans (imaginary of course) cheering him on. Ronaldo says, “well not her” and gestures towards his supermodel girlfriend.
The other best part is when Zlatan Ibrahimović walks up to a free kick someone else is about to take and says “Zlatan thinks that Zlatan should take it.” You know that is exactly how Zlatan would say it to.
