Don’t look now, but the resurgence of Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols is about to become the story of the young 2014 MLB season.
After charging into the record books with his 500th career home run earlier this week, Pujols wasted little time in delivering another authoritative shot for number 501. This one, his MLB-best 9th of the season, came in a blowout of the New York Yankees on Friday night.
For the season Pujols is batting .293/.356/.652 with those nine home runs and 21 runs driven in. As for that MLB home run lead, he does not hold that alone. Jose Abreu of the Chicago White Sox matched Pujols with his 9th home run of the season when he delivered a walk-off grand slam Friday night.
This great start from Pujols is worth monitoring, and a lineup with him and Mike Trout is officially must-see TV, at least for now.
