The Auburn Tigers added another huge verbal commitment to their list on Saturday with the news that four-star safety Jordan Colbert will be arriving to play on the Plains with Gus Malazhn and company for the 2015 season, he announced via his twitter account on Saturday.
Today also happens to be Colbert’s 17th birthday, which made the moment all the more special announcing where he will play his collegiate football.
“It just makes today that much more special,” Colbert told Rivals of committing on his birthday. “The coaches met me every time I visited Auburn. They don’t just make me feel at home, but they make my family do as well, including my little brother and sister. That was something that was really good for me in particular. Family is the most important thing and Auburn is like my family now.”
Colbert is the seventh commitment in the last two weeks for the Tigers as they continue to build one of the more successful programs in the SEC.
The Griffin (Ga.) native is a 6-2, 205-pound prospect who will project more as a STAR in the Ellis Johnson defensive scheme, and he’s the no. 12 safety prospect in the country according to 247 Sports.
