The Auburn Tigers have been tasked this offseason with finding a replacement in the backfield for the departed Tre Mason, and they certainly have some options. During the spring game last weekend, Corey Grant had the most explosive performance while stating his case to be the full-time starter finishing up with 128 yards on just five carries.
While the team will still have the running back battle throughout the summer with Grant, Cameron Artis-Payne and true freshman Roc Thomas who will arrive shortly, Grant definitely separated himself a bit with the spring game performance, and if his recent estimation of his 40-yard dash is any indication, then he will be tough to beat out.
On Saturday, Grant tweeted out that he completed the feat in just 4.11 seconds which, while not official, could very well be a solid estimate if anyone has watched him run.
No doubt, the Auburn running back battle this summer will be one of the most fun story lines to watch play out as we get ready for the 2014 college football season, especially given the fact that Gus Malzahn’s offense is paced by that particular position.
In an update, Grant has now posted a video of the run which you can watch below:
Again, not an official time, but he had to come pretty close.
