College Football Recruiting: Auburn jumps Penn State for second spot in 2015 247 Sports rankings behind Alabama

Just two weeks ago, the college football recruiting world was in awe as James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions leaped the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 247 Sports rankings. Actually, when you think about it, in his first few months on the job, Franklin didn’t just leapfrog Alabama, but a host of other SEC powers as well.

Oh, well, what a difference that a few weeks and some commitments can do as all is right once again in the college football recruiting landscape as the Auburn Tigers jumped Penn State on Saturday for that second spot in the 247 Sports rankings, right behind their Iron Bowl rival Alabama.

With the commitment on Saturday of 4-star defensive back Jordan Colbert, Gus Malzahn and the Tigers now have 12 total commitments from 2015, seven of which have come within the last two weeks and help them climb 16 places in the recruiting pecking order.

Here’s a look at the Top 10 in the 247 Sports rankings as it stands right now:

  1. Alabama Crimson Tide
  2. Auburn Tigers
  3. Penn State Nittany Lions
  4. Clemson Tigers
  5. Tennessee Volunteers
  6. Texas A&M Aggies
  7. LSU Tigers
  8. Florida State Seminoles
  9. Miami Hurricanes
  10. Nebraska Cornhuskers
