The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will be looking to take two games out of three against the New York Yankees which will be underway shortly.
Now the New York Yankees made a couple roster moves earlier on in the day which was followed up by a couple moves made by the visiting Angels. The Halos have optioned veteran outfielder Brennan Boesch to Triple-A Salt Laker and recalled right-hander Mike Morin from the same Minor League affiliate.
The 29 year old outfielder appeared in only nine games for the Angels so far in 2014. There’s no reason why Boesch won’t be called back up to the big leagues after hitting .231/.231/.308 across the line, but hasn’t recorded a single RBI. The 22 year old right-hander who will be taking his spot on the active roster has posted a 4.50 ERA between two Minor League affiliates so far this season.
Los Angeles made a closer change over the last couple of days as skipper Mike Scioscia demoted Ernesto Frieri in favor of Joe Smith. There’s no way Morin will take over the closer role, but he’ll provide this team with some decent depth in the bullpen.
