The Arkansas Razorbacks got a big commitment from an in-state target on Saturday when 3-star wide receiver Deon Stewart gave his pledge to the Hogs.
The 6’1, 165-pounder is from Hardy, Arkansas and attends Highland High School.
“I think this is actually bigger than the Clash of the Ozarks,” Highland head coach Spencer Hill told Otis Kirk of 24/7 Sports. “First time in our community we’ve got a kid commit to the University of Arkansas to play football. It’s a big deal for our community and our football program. We’re all so proud of Deon. He’s going to be a great ambassador for our program.”
Stewart attended the Razorbacks’ junior day on March 1 and received an offer. He then took an unofficial visit to see the Hogs less than two weeks ago and clearly liked what he saw.
Stewart is ranked as the 53rd-best wide receiver prospect in the country, the sixth-best overall prospect in the state of Arkansas and the 462nd-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Stewart chose the Hogs over offers from the Arkansas State Red Wolves, Louisville Cardinals and Ole Miss Rebels, among others.
