Cameron Maybin to return to Padres

The San Diego Padres are hoping to get a shot in the arm from a returning player.

Cameron Maybin, who has been sidelined since the middle of Spring Training with a biceps injury, is in the starting lineup for the Friars today as they take on the Washington Nationals in a series finale. Maybin injured the arm while trying to make a diving catch during a Spring Training game.

Maybin has not played in a Major League game since June of last year, when he tore the PCL in his right knee trying to dive for a ball. He played in just 14 games total in all of 2013 and is hoping to finally have something resembling a full year. He is batting seventh and playing in center field for the Padres on Sunday.

San Diego returned Kevin Quackenbush to Triple-A to create room.
