2014 College Football spring game attendance numbers; Penn State brings in 72,000

The 2014 spring season for college football is all but over here, and once again you could see the tremendous following the sport has by the number of people that turned out in full force to watch their programs prepare for the upcoming regular season.

While the south did still rule in the attendance rankings once again, the Penn State Nittany Lions crept right in between two powers from the SEC. With the buzz that new head coach James Franklin has created in Happy Valley in only a few months on the job, over 72,000 devoted Penn State football faithful turned out inside Beaver Stadium to watch the new era get kicked off.

That 72,000 number was good enough to sandwich themselves between Alabama and Auburn in the rankings.

Here’s a look at the complete attendance numbers for this spring season.

Team 2014 Attendance
Alabama 73,506
Penn State 72,000
Auburn 70,645
Tennessee 68,548
Nebraska 61,772
Ohio State 61,058
Georgia 46,073
Oklahoma 43,500
Florida State 36,500
South Carolina 36,412

Now it should be noted that both Oregon and Oregon State still have yet to take the field, however they are not expected to draw over that South Carolina number at the moment.
