The Tennessee Titans made their peace with Chris Johnson this offseason and cut ties with him. The reasoning behind this was not only his dips in production over the years but also the fact that they’ve been eyeing some of the rookie running backs entering the NFL this year.
Three of those backs are Florida State’s Devonta Freeman, Towson’s Terrance West and LSU’s Jeremy Hill — all of which could very well be available in the third round when Tennessee goes on the clock.
I really like what I hear and read about Charles Sims of West Virginia and he could be there in the fourth. Devonta Freeman of Florida State and Terrance West of Towson, they could be third-rounders, so the Titans might have to move up for them. They’ve seen a lot of Jeremy Hill of LSU. He probably goes highest of the four.
It’s hard to say where running backs will go this year or how far they will fall. Running backs still have value in the NFL but not like they used to. Tennessee will be eying top backs to replace Johnson with but these three names seem like safe mid-round picks they can get.
