Rockies' Nolan Arenado makes diving grab, strong throw (video)

The second place Colorado Rockies took on the first place Los Angeles Dodgers today in the final game of a three game series. Now during today’s 6-1 win against the Dodgers, infielder Nolan Arenado made what looked like a tough diving stop and was able make a strong throw to record an out.

The play came during the bottom of the second inning with the Rockies up 2-1 on the Dodgers. There have been a couple outstanding defensive plays today, but right now Arenado and Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder David Lough have two of the best plays of the day.

Lough made a diving catch in left field against his former team, the Kansas City Royals. Arenado finished the game 2-4 and was able to come around to score twice.

The 23 year old third baseman is entering his second year in the Majors with the Rockies, where he has hit four home runs while driving in 14 RBI’s and is currently hitting .290/.305/.470 over 100 at-bats. Last season he finished with 10 home runs and 52 RBI’s on a batting line of .267/.301/.405.

This season he’s currently fielding .949 with 12 put outs, 63 assists, four errors and seven double plays. Here’s a look at Arenado’s excellent play:
