The Texas Rangers had to make a move on Sunday to create space on their roster for the return of starting pitcher Matt Harrison. One move they could have made would have involved moving Shin-Soo Choo, who has been out of the lineup for nearly a week with an ankle injury, to the disabled list.
The team opted for a different course instead, hoping that Choo’s injury will heal without a DL stint. They made the following moves this morning to make room for Harrison, per Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram:

Choo was off to a solid start prior to this injury, batting .314/.432/.500 through 20 games. He has been a key player at the top of the lineup for the surprising Rangers as they have jumped out to a solid 15-9 start so far in 2014. For a team that has mostly been cursed with bad injury luck since the beginning of spring training, it would be a nice turn of events for the Rangers if they could avoid the DL with Choo.
