49ers Tickets Most Expensive For Road Games On The 2014 NFL Schedule

As the 2014 NFL schedule was released last week, millions of fans flooded the secondary market to purchase tickets for their favorite teams’ home games. While the market became clear of which teams were the biggest draws in their home stadiums, it also showed which visiting teams drew the highest premiums for each of their road games. Surprisingly, only six of the ten teams went to the playoffs last season, but that ones that didn’t have some name value and history on their side for compelling matchups.

Below are the top ten teams with the highest secondary market road average for the 2014 NFL season:

1) San Francisco 49ers  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $363.33

Colin Kaepernick will look to have another elite year after leading the 49ers to a 12-4 record last year. At an average price of $363.33, San Francisco 49ers tickets on the road lead the league in highest road ticket price this season.  The 49ers schedule will have them play both of last year’s Super Bowl participants on the road this year, traveling to Denver to play the Broncos on October 19 and heading to Seattle on December 14. Look for San Francisco to go deep into the playoffs again in pursuit of their first championship since 1994.

2) Green Bay Packers  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $335.58

The Packers had a mediocre season under an injured Aaron Rodgers last year, going just 8-7-1, but finishing first in a depleted NFC North. Average road price for Green Bay Packers tickets is second highest in the league at $335.58. Despite a lackluster season last year, the Packers still draw big numbers on the road. The Packers schedule will see Green Bay head to Seattle to take on the Seahawks on September 4 and play the division rival Chicago Bears on September 28.

3) Chicago Bears  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $323.73

The Bears have posted at least a .500 record since 2010 but have failed to reach the playoffs since then. Chicago has remained consistent for several years under quarterback Jay Cutler and has driven ticket prices while on the road. Average road price for Chicago Bears tickets this year is $323.73, marking the third highest average road price in the league. The Bears will head to Green Bay on November 9 for a divisional matchup with the Packers as well as a Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions November 27.

4) New Orleans Saints  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $317.08

The Saints currently hold the fourth highest road ticket price average in the NFL at $317.08. They will head to Carolina to play the Panthers on October 30 in what is sure to be a competitive battle for bragging rights in the NFC South. Two Monday night games also appear on the Saints schedule that are sure to drive ticket price up, including a December 7 showdown in Chicago against the Bears.

5) New York Giants  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $309.78

The Giants suffered a dismal start to the season last year, losing six consecutive games and finishing just 7-9. Coming off a turbulent season has not affected road draw for Big Blue, however, as they currently hold the fifth highest average road ticket price in the league. Average price for New York Giants tickets on the road this season is $309.78. The toughest road games on the NY Giants schedule will be a pivotal game in Philadelphia on October 12 and also a visit to the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field on November 9.

6) Dallas Cowboys  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $309.25

Tony Romo has been widely criticized both on and off the field his entire career, but has still managed to draw the sixth highest average road ticket prices for the Cowboys this year. The Cowboys have not entered the playoffs since 2009, but still see an average road ticket price of $309.25. The Cowboys will play the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL Game of the Week on October 12. Despite the consistent mediocrity of Romo and his club, Dallas Cowboys tickets on the road remain in high demand.

7) Denver Broncos  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $302.27

The Broncos were embarrassed in Super Bowl XLVIII last year and quickly plan to forget when they begin the season this year. Peyton Manning will look for another push to the Super Bowl in the twilight of his career and the Broncos hold the seventh highest average ticket price in the league at $302.27. They will have a Super Bowl rematch in Seattle on September 21 and an AFC Championship reunion with the Patriots in Foxborough November 2. Denver Broncos tickets continue to rise on the road as Manning winds down his career.

8) Washington Redskins  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $302.11

RGIII had a difficult last season and the Redskins went just 3-13 under their franchise quarterback. The excitement the young QB brings will not dissuade fans from seeing the Redskins on the road, however, as average price for Washington Redskins tickets on the road is $302.11. Away games include a divisional matchup in Dallas October 27 and New York against the Giants December 14.

9) Seattle Seahawks  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $291.03

Winning the Super Bowl does not necessarily grant league leading ticket prices, and the Seahawks are a prime example. While Seattle’s average road ticket price is still higher than average, they act as the eighth highest road price in the league. Average road price for Seattle Seahawks tickets is $291.03. Richard Sherman and the Seahawks will hit the road against the 49ers on Thanksgiving Day, November 27.

10 Philadelphia Eagles  |  Avg. Road Ticket Price: $278.05

The Eagles managed to turn things around last year and win the NFC East under newfound leader Nick Foles. Despite their first place spot last season, the Eagles fall under the league average road ticket price. At an average of $278.05, Philadelphia Eagles tickets away from home may be a steal for diehard Philly fans. The Eagles will play the Packers on the road November 16 and also head north on the Jersey Turnpike to play the Giants on December 28.
