Blue Jays to call up infielder Chris Getz on Tuesday

The Toronto Blue Jays were on a four game skid before picking up a 7-1 victory over defending champions, the Boston Red Sox.

Now the Blue Jays will open up a nine game road trip starting with a three game series against the Kansas City Roayls tomorrow night. Before the Blue Jays take the field, the organization made a roster move that sent second baseman Ryan Goins to Triple-A Buffalo.

This will be a corresponding move prior to tomorrow’s game. Despite providing the team with some solid defense, Goins was unable to win the everyday job at second base for Toronto. Goins batted just .150/.203/.217 across the line.

So with Goins heading to the Minors, the Blue Jays will re-call Chris Getz according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca. The organization will need to figure out a move that will open up a spot for him on the 40-man roster, so expect something to be announced before tomorrow’s game.

Getz was hitting .309/.382/.338 with nine RBI’s at Triple-A Buffalo and appears to be worthy of winning the everyday second base duties.
